Sourcing Within Worksession
Towards a Creative Process that Integrates the Performer’s Physical and Vocal Capacities
Since 2006, Sourcing Within worksessions have been held in Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Initiated by Ang Gey Pin, Sourcing Within encompasses extensive collaborations and worksessions with performing artists from around the world. Over the years, it has cultivated a dynamic and interconnected network of actors, dancers, musicians, directors, and teachers. Coming from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, these artists gather in intensive sessions dedicated to practical research, artistic exchange, and the ongoing exploration of performance craft.
Led by Ang Gey Pin, each worksession invites participants into a mode of practice grounded in flow, intention, aliveness, and effortlessness. Through individual and collective exploration, participants cultivate sensitivity to detail, responsiveness to partners, and clarity of presence.
Drawing from traditional body disciplines, including principles and elements of Taijiquan as well as spontaneous free play, the work guides participants from the foundational wisdom of ancient forms toward their creative possibilities in contemporary artistic practice.
Vocal exploration unfolds through the body as a vast resonating channel, sharpening listening, attuning participants to the heart, and opening pathways for authentic expression. Alongside this, we inquire into how creative work may live in, engage with, and flow through our vital life. In doing so, we move closer to creativity—and to life itself—in ways that are embodied, liberating, and transformative.
